Mariela holds two Master’s degrees, one in Nonprofit Management from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and another in Education from the University of Haifa in Israel. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew and brings a unique perspective and profound understanding of diverse communities to her new role. She has a strong background in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and philanthropy, Mariela brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Having previously served as the Director of Community Engagement at Congregation B’nai B’rith in Santa Barbara, CA, Mariela has proven her ability to cultivate inclusivity and drive growth within communities, evidenced by record membership numbers and strengthened relationships.
Kelli Brogan – Development Manager

Kelli and her husband Matt moved here from New Mexico 20 years ago. They have two children, Mia (14) and Colin (11) and Sampson, their crazy Labrador Retriever. Kelli is excited to be the Annual Campaign Manager for the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region. Kelli credits Shalom School with helping her develop a strong Jewish identity. She worked with the school’s Parent Organization and joined the Shalom School Board of Trustees, where she eventually became President and is now the Immediate Past President.
Deborah Frost – Communications Manager

Deborah produces the Federation’s weekly digital newsletter, the eVoice, and the print publication, The Voice. She maintains the Federation website and the Community Calendar and publicizes Federation events by creating flyers and other marketing materials. The eVoice and Community Calendar provide our diverse communities with a place to communicate with each other. Deborah is a long-time Sacramento resident with a BS in Graphic Design from CSUS and has volunteered in the Jewish community for 24 years. Her vision for the Sacramento region is a fabric of diverse Jewish communities woven together with a place for each of us. She enjoys hearing from the community and working together toward that vital community.
Sara Goldberg – Community Social Worker

Sara, recently relocated to Sacramento, California, from Tampa, Florida, brings with her a strong passion for community well-being and a fresh perspective to the Jewish Federation team. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has hands-on experience in community mental health, most recently working with low-income and unhoused older adults. Her background deeply aligns with the Federation’s mission to support vulnerable community members, especially seniors. Outside of work, Sara is usually accompanied by her joyful pup and sidekick, Bentley, who keeps her grounded and smiling.
Jessica Rodrigues – Community Engagement Manager

Jessica has a background in Jewish Studies and Hebrew, she taught preschool, and was a Hebrew/Judaic Specialist at Shalom School. Jessica also taught at Mosaic Law Congregation’s Mercaz. As Community Engagement Manager, Jessica aims to enliven Jewish life in the Sacramento area with programs that are vibrant, welcoming, and meaningful. Programs rooted in tradition, and genuinely fun to be part of.
When not working, you’ll usually find her outside exploring a new trail or in the kitchen testing out a recipe that may or may not become a new favorite. Jessica believes that community grows through shared experiences – whether we’re learning together, adventuring together, or bonding over a homemade meal.
Ardyth Sokoler – Outreach & Partnerships Manager

Ardyth has spent her entire professional career as an educator and leader in the Jewish community, working in public and private schools, synagogues, Federations, and university settings. She has completed graduate work at the University of Judaism (now American Jewish University) and professional development certifications, including the Spertus Institute Leadership Certificate in Combating Antisemitism, Resetting the Table’s Facilitator Training, and iCenter’s Conflicts of Interest Initiative. Ardyth is deeply committed to bringing her skills and experience to nurture relationships, cultivate thoughtful engagement, and use education to deepen understanding and strengthen our Jewish community.
Nancy Hernandez – Office and Facilities Manager

Nancy has worked for non-profits for more than 15 years, first in Southern California at the LeRoy Haynes Center, a group home for troubled boys. After moving to Northern California, she worked at the Non-Profit Medical Corporation in the Human Resources Department for 9 years.
Rabbi Deni Deutsch Marshall LCSW – Chaplain

Rabbi Deni is a chaplain and therapist. She is a spiritual director, Jewish meditation teacher, Mussar facilitator, Life Cycle officiant, and teaches Jewish practices related to death and dying. She created and co-led a Shabbaton on Jewish Wisdom for Aging. Rabbi Deni is excited to bring her passion for pastoral counseling to the Sacramento community as the Jewish Federation’s Chaplain. Rabbi Deni enjoys being a doting Savta (grandmother) of three young children, with whom she is very involved.
