We plan a variety of Senior events yearly and have recently been limited to monthly Zoom events. We are now planning in-person events to promote social connections and “schmoozing.” Our seniors have enjoyed both entertainment and educational luncheon events, check back here and our weekly EVoice for event postings.
KOSHER MEAL DELIVERY PROGRAM (KMD)
Our KMD program started in 2020, during the Pandemic. Our aim was to be of service to our homebound community experiencing food insecurity. The KMD program was established to deliver hot Kosher Shabbat meals to those in the community who are homebound and vulnerable for any number of reasons, including frailty, recovering from illnesses, or dealing with short or long-term illness. KMD has become a crucial and much appreciated part of our community service, we’ve continued weekly meal deliveries to an average of 15-20 recipients. To date we’ve delivered over 2,000 meals. For more information, contact Gloria Storer at gstorer@jewishsac.org.
HOLIDAY OUTREACH BAGS
In partnership with community volunteers, Jewish Family Services facilitates the delivery of holiday outreach bags to homebound individuals in celebration of Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, and Passover. We’re happy to celebrate a small taste of the holidays with our homebound community. Please contact us if you would like to include someone on our gift bag distribution. This program is dependent on volunteer drivers to deliver gift bags, drivers are always needed, please contact Gloria Storer at gstorer@jewishsac.org for more information.
VOLUNTEER CORPS
Our volunteers provide meaningful service opportunities that impact the lives of both volunteers and recipients and embody the Jewish values of tikkun olam, repairing the world, and tzedakah, charity and justice, by bringing those values into our local community. As one of our loyal volunteers shared, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” Are you interested in performing a Mitzvah? We are always looking for caring individuals to assist our Jewish community members in need. Check our weekly EVoice postings for opportunities or register to be a volunteer here.
