Mitzvah Day Thank You!

We recognized that there is a strong need for the community to come together and do things together. That’s how this year’s Mitzvah Day was born. We wanted to take the opportunity to also honor those who are protecting us, both here and in Israel. Doing it on Veteran’s Day weekend was a privilege!

This past Sunday, the house was full of conversations among Community members who were hard at work. Together, we made 48 paracord bracelets and wrote 56 cards thanking Active Military, Veterans, lone Israeli soldiers, and veterans in our community. We also made 25 blankets and 61 winter kits for our local unhoused veterans.

The children decorated a box for the donated Halloween candy, which we will deliver to a Marine battalion stationed in San Diego. We will also distribute the 35 donated $20 grocery gift cards to Jewish Family Service clients needing extra support.

We pledged future action, too! People registered to give blood at the American Red Cross, and several pledged to do acts of kindness to honor the fallen soldiers from October 7.

It was a happy and productive day that reminded all of us how good it feels to care for each other. That said, it is not too late to participate:

  • Donate Grocery Gift cards from SaveMart or Trader Joe’s. Or, donate directly to the Jewish Family Services: HERE.
  • Pledge to donate blood to the American Red Cross HERE, then make an appointment to donate this Sunday, November 17, at Temple Or Rishon HERE (SEE AD BELOW).
  • Pledge to do a mitzvah to honor October 7 Soldiers by doing an act of kindness in their memory; learn more HERE.

Thank you for your participation and support. We couldn’t have made Mitzvah Day such a success without you. We look forward to seeing you next year on Mitzvah Day!
