In 2012, in response to community feedback, Federation's priority turned to closing the gap in social services and we re-introduced Jewish Family Service (JFS) to our community. Following are resources, services, and available opportunities:
COMMUNITY SOCIAL WORKER
Federation’s part-time Community Social Worker, Rebecca Ray, is available to respond to inquiries related to nutrition, finances, senior services, and family issues. Rebecca conducts home visits as appropriate, provides community resources, and partners with area rabbis to assess congregational and community needs. Rebecca may be reached at 916-205-0688.
KOSHER FOOD PANTRY
Federation accepts donations to its Kosher Food Pantry year-round. Suggested items include pasta/sauce; rice; beans; soup; cereal; oatmeal; granola bars; peanut butter; canned/jarred fruit; soy milk, juice; and paper goods. All goods should be non-perishable and have a kosher symbol. Toiletries as well as ritual and Judaica items are welcome. If you know anyone who is in need of accessing the pantry, please contact our Community Social Worker Rebecca Ray at 916-205-0688.
FACILITATED SUPPORT GROUPS
Federation offers support groups within a Jewish context facilitated by social service professionals. For more information, contact Community Social Worker Rebecca Ray at 916-205-0688.
THERAPIST REFERRAL NETWORK
Jewish Family Service has a Therapist Referral Network to assist community members in finding a mental health professional that is right for them. If you are a mental health professional and are interested in becoming part of our Network, please complete a Therapist Referral Application and return it to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it to The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region, 2130 21st St., Sacramento, CA 95818.
COMMITTEE ON INCLUSION AND DISABILITIES
Federation’s Committee on Inclusion and Disabilities (CID) is composed of individuals with a wide range of experience working with disability issues, including parents/family members, professionals who work with the disability community, and advocates. For more information, contact email@example.com.
The Senior Transportation Fund is made possible by the Transportation Support for the Jewish Elderly Endowment Fund held at the Jewish Community Foundation of the West. JFS is able to provide Paratransit vouchers, Yellow Cab Taxi gift cards, and an UBER gift card once a month as needed to Jewish seniors 60 years and older who are home bound or no longer able to drive. NOTE: In order to book rides with Paratransit, you need to complete a form for a Paratransit ID card. JFS also offers Paratransit vouchers and taxi gift cards. For more information, contact Rebecca Ray at 916-205-0688.

In partnership with community volunteers, Federation facilitates the delivery of holiday outreach baskets to homebound individuals during Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, and Passover. If you know someone in need of a basket, contact Rebecca Ray at 916-205-0688.
